Nell Farrell

Nell Farrell was born in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, thereby sharing a birthplace with D.H. Lawrence and the Midland Railway. She has since lived in Hull, York, France, Liverpool and Sheffield – where she has now lived for longer than anywhere else. She is a social worker by training and has worked in the voluntary sector
in a variety of settings including domestic abuse and mental health. She worked in social work education for fifteen years and spent four years as Community Participation Officer at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, one of Sheffield’s foremost industrial heritage sites. Nell currently works for Sheffield Carers Centre where she manages the Advice and Assessment Service. She runs a creative writing group, the fabulous Heeley Women Writers and is part of another, the delightfully sedentary Netball Team. She loves cooking, reading and football. Having only learned to crochet during the last couple of years, she has become a bit obsessive about making blankets. Derrida's Monkey is her debut collection.
